medal_back_tr_sm.gif The architect Peter Zumthor, is the winner of the Pritzker 2009. Peter Zumthor was born in 1943 in Basel, Switzerland. Despite not being a well-known architect, had been previously awarded other prizes such as the Prize for Contemporary Architecture Mies van der Rohe at the Museum of Art in Bregenz, Austria in 1998.

The Pritzker Prize was created in 1979 by Jay A. Pritzker, and is probably the most internationally renowned. The award consists of a bronze medal and one hundred thousand dollars.
